Marciano & MacAvoy, P.C. recently had the opportunity to support and sponsor the “Walk Like MADD” event at the Philadelphia Zoo. We are excited to now be able to say that the event was a huge success! Thank you to everyone who came out and made this important event and community moment possible.
Exciting statistics from the recent Walk Like MADD event at the zoo:
- 28 teams showed up to the walk and 5K dash
- 651 individual participants registered
- $62,414 were raised, with the goal being set at $55,000
The walk began at 9:30 AM, bringing people throughout the community. Everyone who walked helped MADD – or Mothers Against Drunk Driving – spread awareness of drunk driving dangers in their ongoing, constant campaign to bring intoxicated driving to an end all across the country. All participants of the Walk received a Marciano & MacAvoy water bottle at the time of registration. Attorneys from Marciano & MacAvoy, along with their employees and families, raised money and participated in the Walk.
All in all, this event was as fun as it was poignant. We were happy to see friends from our community band together for such an important cause. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) estimates that nearly 11,000 people lose their lives in drunk driving accidents each year, and many, many more are seriously injured. From our positions as injury attorneys, we have seen secondhand the harm and devastation caused by drunk driving as we represent people and surviving family members in need of justice and closure. We hope our sponsorship of this Walk Like MADD event helps make people think twice before getting behind the wheel while intoxicated.
