What Is Mothers Against Drunk Driving?
Established in 1980, MADD strives “to end drunk driving, help fight drugged driving, support the victims of these violent crimes, and prevent underage drinking.” According to data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is extremely dangerous, accounting for roughly 28% of all traffic-related deaths in the United States.
For more than thirty years, MADD has tenaciously fought toward its goals. As a result, MADD has helped reduce drunk driving deaths by 50 percent—saving more than 370,000 lives and supporting over 840,000 victims and their families.
A Worthy and Personal Cause for Marciano & MacAvoy, P.C.
The fight against intoxicated driving strikes close to home for Attorney Kevin Marciano, who lost a relative in a drunk-driving-related accident. Since then, Mr. Marciano has donated a portion of his attorney’s fees to MADD after winning a drunk driving injury case. Among those cases is an $11.6 million settlement for the wrongful death of three Philadelphia patrons who perished in a drunk driving accident in 2013 that resulted from bars overserving the at-fault driver. Marciano negotiated to get the bars to donate a total of $20,000 to MADD.
If you or a loved one has been injured in a drunk driving accident, you should consult Marciano & MacAvoy, P.C. We understand the emotional and legal struggle that comes after a drunk driving accident. That is why we’ve dedicated much of our practice to advocating for the victims of drunk driving accidents and supporting community efforts to end such tragedies in the future.
