Pat MacAvoy finds himself right at home representing people in need at Marciano & MacAvoy (M&M). He began his legal career at a Philadelphia civil defense firm where he handled catastrophic injury cases on behalf of insurance companies and their insureds. Pat’s previous defense experience gives M&M’s clients a unique edge in each case and allows M&M to obtain the best possible results. He represents folks of all backgrounds who have been injured by someone else’s wrongdoing, and he specializes in representing catastrophically injured victims in a wide area of complex legal claims including:
As for his education, Pat is a Nittany Lion, a Wildcat, and an Owl. Pat graduated from Pennsylvania State University with a degree in economics and earned his law degree from Villanova University School of Law. While in law school, he was an active member in Moot Court and earned individual and team awards for excellence in oral advocacy. He was also selected to be a professor’s teaching assistant and he instructed and evaluated other students in legal writing and oral advocacy. Today, he regularly serves as a guest judge for Moot Court competitions at Villanova Law.
Pat also earned a Masters of Law in Trial Advocacy from Temple Law School. At this nationally recognized top-notch program he worked with some of the finest trial lawyers in the country to hone his litigation skills and courtroom performance. He now serves as an adjunct professor at Temple Law.
Outside the office, Pat is a featured legal analyst on national television news broadcasts, including “Money with Melissa Francis” on Fox Business Channel. He regularly speaks at seminars on the law with judges and fellow lawyers on a variety of topics affecting M&M’s clients. He is licensed to practice law in both Pennsylvania and New Jersey. His professional affiliations include the Pennsylvania Bar Association, the Philadelphia Bar Association, and active membership in the Philadelphia Trial Lawyers Association, and the Pennsylvania Association of Justice, for which he serves on the Board of Governors.
A South Philly resident, Pat is an active member of the Philadelphia community. He is a board member of ArtWell (theartwell.org), a community arts nonprofit that fosters collaboration between local artists and young people to promote just and peaceful communities throughout the Philadelphia area. He is also a volunteer lawyer for the Philadelphia Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts, and he is a big brother with Big Brothers Big Sisters Southeastern Pennsylvania.
